gen 2 was the closest we got to a pokemon game that was meant for fans as they grew up. Pokemon has always catered to a specific age group. Gen 2, even tho a couple years apart, had continuity. It relied on fans playing Gen 1 in order to fully appreciate gen 2, which is why it still stands out all these years later.

Any kid now today will never understand what pokemon red and blue up to ruby and emerald was really like. New games are eh and cannot compete with what we all grew up on. Lets see them trade random pokemon from blue to gold just to try and get some shiny pokemon from gen 1.

I remember spending weekends at my grandparents, and they’d put on 60 minutes or some news, and I’d chill on the couch next to my grandma across from my papa in his armchair and I’d play Pokémon gold. I’d end up losing so much time on toilet there just playing gold 😂 I remember getting over there on a Friday and going down into union cave to hunt down lapras. My first shiny was a sandshrew in the cave connecting to the 2nd town
