@missclairebenjamin: Handling the “useless” manager (and still get your needs met) There are lots of reasons a manager might come across as chaotic like shown in this clip and it’s easy to label them as useless as this type of behaviour can have a negative impact on you. They could be overwhelmed, under pressure, or find organisation and time management challenging. You can absolutely have empathy for that, but of course it doesn’t remove the impact it has on you. When a manager operates like this, the real question becomes how you ensure your needs are still being met. As shown in this video, I’d suggest picking your moment carefully (not when they’re at their most stressed) and opening up a conversation about how you can work together more effectively. Framing it around differences in working styles is a great way to bring up what you need without immediately triggering defensiveness. 💬 Have you ever experienced this from either side? What did you do? 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is general and won’t suit every situation. Always use your judgement based on your context. ➕ Follow for more strategies on navigating tricky dynamics at work #worktips #difficultconversations #assertivecommunication #communicationskills #emotionalintelligence
I had one of these, but you could NOT talk to her about it at all

My previous manager was like that, I (erroneously) tried to get everything she would tell me done asap to show her the hard work I was putting in, these 121s got shorter and shorter, she then sent everything in an email, next thing I know I was fired 🙄

Claire, you should do a video of how to handle conflict or challenging situations when your boss is also your friend, like a former coworker. That’s my situation 😁

I had a manager like this before, who spent the whole 10 minutes telling me how I needed to be conducting efficient 1-2-1s with my own team! She’d rush in, answer calls whilst in with me, shuffle through paperwork whilst we were talking, and then say she had to go! Honestly it was ridiculous.

Hello :
I had one that asked you to record her spewing information at a quick speaking pace because she didn’t have time to discuss it with me and/or repeat it.
