I had an epidural that didn’t work. I immediately got out of the bed and went to the bathroom. They said “you can’t do that! You had an epidural!” I told you it didn’t work!

This might be super petty but I wouldn’t even tell him when I went into labor I’d call him a few days later and just say oh btw I had my baby. I’d pick someone who actually cared about me to be in the room with me.

seriously if you’re ever in this situation, join a moms group in your area and ask for a birth partner - SO many people will step up to be there with you

Staying at my parent’s house after delivery would be the easiest decision I’d have to make! If he didn’t want to be with me through all the hard, ugly and painful times then he doesn’t get to enjoy being with me through the amazing, fun and beautiful times!

I had to give birth in a city 2 hours away from my home (also Canada). My husband took time off before so we could stay at my parents (in the city) for the last few weeks. That's what a good husband does. Ended up with a Frank breach birth, so really glad we did! And he was in the OR for the C-section.

the registar wanted my husband to step outside the room when I was in very very active labor with our youngest. he completely ignored her and stayed right next to me, holding my hand, talking to me. baby was born maybe 5 mins later. he could never.

my husband (32 years ago!!) didn't come in with me. he has some serious trauma surrounding hospitals. BUT ... he ASKED me, if he could just wait outside in the car. my mom had been a maternity nurse and came in with me. best choice ever as I didn't not have a good time of it. thing is, I KNOW if I told him I need him there? he would have. he actually managed to wait in the hospital towards the end ... just in case. (yes, he has had therapy for that, and many other things ❤️)

so, even with an epidural there can still be screaming as you still feel all the muscles and pressure of what's going on just not the pain part. its still an uncomfortable process.
