Check with your insurance provider to see if you would meet criteria for post-op acute inpatient rehab. Most facilities will provide you with 3 hours/day of PT/OT. It’s very common post-amp and many patients will go back again if/when they get their prosthesis for prosthetic training. The intensive therapy schedule at an IPR facility can be a lot, but can also set you up for a better long-term recovery process vs outpatient/home therapy. It may not be for you, but I would greatly suggest looking at it given how young you are! ❤️thank you for sharing your story!

1. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. I really appreciate hearing your story. I don’t get to meet many adult Ewing survivors being a parent of a Ewing’s amputee survivor. You definitely have a good plan in place. Starting PT and mental therapy well before the amputation will help tremendously. There’s lots of resources out there and sounds like you are definitely making a good plan.

For safety, you might consider getting a smart watch. I have a Samsung and it connects to my phone and can make phone calls, and can even have its own phone line to make calls without my phone. If you have an iPhone I'm sure it can do the same. I'm disabled and since my mother passed away in January I've been alone in the house. Having the smart watch helps me feel a little more secure knowing that I can call for help if I'm alone and ill or hurt.

I for one I am very interested in taking this journey with you. You have such a grounded presence, yet you still have a sense of humor and a sense of whimsy and I really admire that. I can imagine when you’re not in front of the camera that there must be some really frightening times but you’ve already gone through so much, just like you said, if this helps you to have a better quality of life without so much pain, then so be it. I’m in for the long haul and wish and pray for you only the best

If you choose an acupuncturist, please do some research. Make sure they are fully licensed and went to school for at least 2 years. Some states allow people to practice acupuncture after a 3 days seminar. Be wary if they say they can fix your leg. They should be able to address pain though. I took a job in an acupuncture clinic as a skeptic. I had very good results, but do the work to find the right practitioner. Good luck!
