Hi. I’m a serving police officer and I understand that every job has its good and bad sides. I do my best to perform my duties. We’re all legally required to report any corruption and from my experience it’s always been thoroughly investigated and dealt with. It’s a difficult job and I must admit after 20 years I’ve developed compassion fatigue. What you see in the media is often not the whole story and the police aren’t always right. We’re all human and make mistakes. I’m not saying it’s right but please remember this job can be soul-destroying. Some people say “we chose the career” and yes we did! I joined to help people and serve the community, not to be abused daily, have objects thrown at me or be accused of corruption. I’m tired and I hope future police officers have a different mindset.
