I do this too. I’ve lived in America since I was 14 and I had thick accent but I have a slight Indonesian accent when I speak English and American accent when I speak my language.

that’s normal knowing that she moved to America when she was only 15 she spoke English for most of her life, but I still think it’s crazy after 30 yrs she still has a strong Brazilian accent lol

Brazilian here, she definitely developed an American accent after many years of speaking mainly English, and that’s completely normal, I speak 4 languages (one of them Portuguese) and I have different accents or very neutral ones when I speak each of those languages, but I definitely feel like she always had an accent, it was never a standard Portuguese, in her early interviews, especially one from 2002, you can hear a little of a Bahian accent.
