I was there at the Dangerous Tour in 1992 when Michael Jackson went on stage at 9 PM. We had already arrived at 5 in the morning, and many people had even been there since the day before. We waited the entire day in the heat, and at one point the fire department had to spray water over the crowd to cool us down. The gates finally opened around 6 PM, and we ran as fast as we could across the field to get a good spot near the front. The intensity and anticipation leading up to the concert were unbelievable. Then suddenly… complete silence. You could hear the dramatic sounds of O Fortuna together with a video montage and the words: “Brace yourself.” And believe me, we did. Then Michael Jackson shot up high from beneath the stage. He stood there completely motionless for what felt like forever. The moment he slowly took off his sunglasses, the crowd went absolutely wild. It was indescribable. People around us were fainting, but at the same time there was this incredible sense of unity... people helping each other, calling for help, supporting strangers. We all felt connected in that moment. That’s when I truly understood the effect he had on people. A concert like that is impossible to describe. Only the people who actually saw him perform live can really understand what it felt like
