ARMY BLACK HAWK CRASHES IN COLORADO — FOUR SOLDIERS ESCAPE INJURY A U.S. Army MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter went down Tuesday, August 25, during a routine training operation near Thorodin Mountain in Gilpin County, Colorado, west of Denver. The helicopter was carrying four Special Operations soldiers from the Army’s elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, also known as the “Night Stalkers.” The aircraft came down in a wooded area on the east side of the mountain, near Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where the helicopter sustained significant damage. All four people aboard survived without reported injuries. Officials initially reported no fire or immediate danger to the surrounding community. The Army has described the incident as an “aviation mishap” and says a safety investigation is underway. The exact cause of the crash has not been released. The helicopter originated from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 160th SOAR.
