@muchira_creates: I notice sunrises more when I’m not trying to. When I’m just awake before the world has decided to fully start, and everything is still in that in-between state, not night, not day, just possibility. The light doesn’t arrive all at once. It leaks in slowly, like it’s testing whether I’m paying attention. First the edges of things change. Trees stop being shapes and start being objects. Roofs remember their color. Distance becomes clearer, even before sound follows. There’s a quiet kind of permission in it, as if the world is saying I can begin again without needing to explain yesterday. I don’t always watch it properly. Sometimes I’m already moving, already distracted, already late to something that feels important in the moment. But even then, it still happens. Whether I witness it or not. And I think that’s what stays with me, not that the sun rises, but that it does so without asking for my attention, and still manages to change everything I’m looking at.
