@the_starling_homestead: $2.50kg Milk Powder Yoghurt Recipe and technique below ⬇️ 1/8 cup Greek yoghurt 1.5 cups milk powder Cold Water Firstly you do need to buy yoghurt to act as a starter - I used Gopala Greek. Once you’ve created your first batch of yoghurt you can continue to use the old yoghurt to start the fresh batch. I prefer to start my yoghurt using Greek yoghurt rather than regular yoghurt. I also prefer to use Anchor milk powder as I’ve had issues with the cheaper milk powder turning sour so I’ve based the price off this. Whisk together the yoghurt, milk powder and half an esi yo container of cold water. Once there are no lumps top the container up with more cold water. I personally add more boiling water to my esi yo than what the instructions say. I like to have boiling water nearly up to the top of the inner container. I left this batch on the bench for about 12 hours. This batch was made during the day with a daytime temp of about 21 degrees. #yoghurt #yogurt #milkpowder #EasyRecipe #homesteading

Could you please show the inside of the yogurt maker with the water in it? I’m not sure I get what you mean when you say that you put more water in than what’s needed , thank you!

Oh I’m excited to try this. The sachets are starting to get more expensive now and the pre made tubs are getting super up there! I made your pancake mix with my toddlers about a month ago because we didn’t have any shaker pancakes left and they were requesting them… it has been such a hit in our house, in the past month they have gone through almost 2 batches 😂 they love them so much and I’m all for anything that I can get them to actually eat

There's a lot of cost pressure on dairy at the moment due to diesel costs. My daughter has a dairy factory and her diesel costs have risen by $50k a month for around 60 delivery trucks.

I use an easiyo maker as, but I use 4% whole milk that I get from my local Indian supermarket, you get 2 x 2L for $7.20 so it only cost $1.80 a litre to make.

Can also buy probiotic capsules from the chemist and empty them into the milk instead of buying yoghurt as a starter. 😊 I find this helpful because I always forget to buy more yogurt to start a new batch when inevitably my kids eat the last bit 😅
