@itsmissem_: In 2024, I injured myself on stage while competing — and it turned out to be the worst injury I’ve ever had. At first, I thought it was just a minor ankle strain. I kept training and competing through the entire 2025 season, despite the pain getting worse and my ankle becoming unstable. After scans, it was discovered I had a 3 cm tear in my peroneus brevis tendon. Rehab wasn’t enough to fix it, so in February 2026 I had surgery to repair the tendon and remove an osteochondroma from my tibia. Plot twist: during surgery, they also found a torn ligament underneath the tendon, so I ended up needing a ligament reconstruction too. I was non-weight bearing for 3 weeks and had to learn to walk again coming out of the boot. Now, 11 weeks post-op, I’ve finally been cleared to return to the gym and calisthenics. It’s been a hard journey, but I’m grateful for my support crew and thankful this is the worst injury I’ve had in 27 years of calisthenics. #recovery #anklesurgery #dance #calisthenics #injury
