@zsavier: I leaned in too close and touched the wall with my headphones 🙈 No skulls were harmed, I promise! The Paris Catacombs were originally built to quarry limestone. But, when the cemeteries of Paris ran out of room for new bodies due to war, then a plague, they took a nod from the Romans, removed all of the already decomposed corpses from the graveyards, and put them down here. They wanted those who still wanted to visit loved ones to have something nice to look at, so they used the bones to make a giant art installation, complete with some famous quotes about death.
