I do the same but I push the burger down so it covers the pan. Brown, flip, wait while it browns that side, break it up.

I place the meat in a zip lock bag and flatten it out to about the size of the pan. Gives more surface area to brown. 😁

Buy vintage cast iron cookware and clean it up the best you can and season it, and buy yourself a chainmail washcloth and never use soap just hot water.

I prefer my hamburger meat browned before using in recipes. Cannot stand the lack of flavor or the look of the gray colored meat.

I do something similar but I make 2lbs and flatten out to a consistency of a thick burger before putting in a hot pan. Everything else I do is the same. Thinning out a little accomplishes the same effect while cooking quicker AND you have more contact area for those flavor crystals. 👍🏻

About a year or two ago TikTok taught me this method and I’ve used it ever since. Season after the browning!

There was a time where I would drop a frozen block of burger into a pan. Cook that one side them flip. I would keep on doing this process until it was fully cooked.
