@ellistonpediatrics: Every parent needs to know this! Let them fall. Let them fail. Not because we don’t care—but because that’s where growth lives. Our job isn’t to control every outcome or keep them happy all the time. It’s to be their safe place when things don’t go as planned… and the voice that says, try again. That’s how resilience is built. . . . . #resiliance #pediatrics NYC pediatrician
This was no problem for me. When they fell, I cracked up. They never cried unless they really got hurt. We did not make a big deal ever. Now they do the same for their kids. Yes I laugh at my grandchildren as well. 😂

I would always ask my kiddos if they were really hurt, or if it just scared them. After a while they would pop back up and say “whoa that was scary!” and go back to playing

Buddy of mine doesn’t react but he does ask his son two questions “you okay?” And “does it hurt or did it scare you?”

Letting them fall makes them tougher and lets them know it’s ok to fail as long as you keep trying

Parents that overreact causes the kids to cry, because they see your reaction. I never overreacted with my daughter and now she's a skydiving instructor which scares the crap out of me

My son loved to climb as a toddler. I have found him on top of the refrigerator, fireplace mantle, sitting on top of doors, on the top bar of the swing set. I gave up and just let him. He was so physically agile that he was on a dirt bike at the age of 3, with all the safety gear. He is now 28 years old and I’m completely gray 😁 He’s 6 years old in this picture 😎🤘🏼

Learning not to react and let them react first is one of the hardest things I had to learn as a parent to let them fall to let them fail and just stand back and let them tell me what they need. My kids are in their 30s and it’s still hard.

My mother in law was the gasp, clutch the chest, rush to the child person. AND it would drive me nuts!!!! I was a let them react first parent before I made my move. My kids are in fact pretty calm.
