They are designed to be extra loose so that if you are alone and can't lift the weight, you can release the weights to the side of the bar. These closures are a deadly trap.

you can see he readjusted the first clip so when he slammed the weight on it it had room to move it but he didn't even try slamming his own crap product with the weight
