@mylifesatravelmovie: A pod of 15 or more wild #ORCAS suddenly surrounded our boat in Baja, Mexico…so we got in the water and swam with them. Full disclosures: we had a marine biologist guide who assessed their behavior first and we were only allowed to go in with her permission. I also have a degree in animal science and veterinary background, plus a lot of experience swimming with apex predators, so I felt safe and comfortable being near them, but this is not for everyone! Seeing Orcas in the wild is extremely RARE, and “Orca Tours” doesn’t exist! We got lucky seeing them on a regular Sea Safari, where we were mostly expecting to see humpbacks and dolphins (we saw those too and also a Bryde’s Whale!) Full info on how to do this ethically on my blog MyLifesAMovie.com !

I find it amazing how whales and dolphins come across boats and humans and decide to show off and play. It shows their high degree of intelligence.
