@lauren.clutter: Replying to @Serena pretty sure this won’t fix it completely but I think it will bring it to a better starting point to balance the water chemistry #poolopening

Why don’t you just keep adding the chlorine through the winter ? Run the pump, once a week. I find in much cheaper and easier to get it for the summer.

Would a pool cover over the winter help this?

When our pool looks like this at the beginning of Spring we drain it bc eww I can’t get in it knowing it looked like a swamp just a week before! Floc or Flock should be the first thing you do after you shock it! We floc at least 2-3 times and vacuum in between

So I go through this every year too. All I use is a bottle of revive. It’s something you hooked to your water hose and spray on the pool and let’s sit for 24 to 48 hours. Then you simply vacuum to waste and shock. This is my before.

wieso kippt man all die Chemikalien da rein, anstatt das Wasser abzulassen, alles zu säubern und mit frischem Wasser zu füllen?

Nothing you are doing will matter until you vacuum

Brandon Clark :
Why don’t you start by vacuuming to waste to remove the majority of organic matter? Thats the only logical way lol

I guess if you put a cover on the end of season I would have nothing to watch now lol

For people saying to just hire someone - my husband & I bought a house with an abandoned pool. We hired the most recommended pool company in our area. It cost us $2,500, roughly, to get it swim-able (all our equipment worked/ liner was fine). And I was still responsible for brushing the sides, dumping shock, etc. even with a pool company helping getting us in working order. Through this, I realized I could have done this myself & saved so much money. As your husband has stated, pool companies are pretty useless…. And costly. Not to mention, it took them 4 weeks in work total when it should have taken maybe 2.
