@primalempress: Replying to @meme Tattle won on a technicality but it has been a win for free speech in that it has brought the very nuanced subject back into the public eye. I would love to talk more about this as we need to look at the power influencers have and where is the line between accountability & trolling. #tattle #tattlelife #influencer #trolling #freespeech
Reddit, the Daily Mail comments, any SM is frequently worse than Tattle

This is a refreshingly nuanced take from a content creator

I think a lot of the issue is that many influencers believe they should be free from criticism because “it’s my page if you don’t like it get off it”, when a lot of the time people have legitimate concerns, whether it’s about false advertising or misinformation. Imagine a brand putting out an ad and not allowing people to have opinions on it. A lot of influencers have bigger followings than brands. Also for tv etc you have watchdogs like ofcom etc, no such thing for social media and influencers, so sometimes it really just is users trying to hold people to account.

I think of someone's social media page as being like their house. If i dont like someone I dont turn up at their door and tell them, or talk about them to someone else on their doorstep. Thats just rude. But I might talk about them somewhere else.

Thing is about tattle is if you relate you will read. For many people they aren’t bothered. Yes some users are unhinged. But it’s a gossip forum where subjects don’t have to read about themselves. It’s worse to comment directly to the subjects and give them hate.

Imagine paying serious money to a supposedly decent legal team and they didn’t follow basic legal procedures and serve the writ on the defendant. The second point is how did the original judge overlook this? Did he not question why there was no defence?

As you said, the thing is with tattle is remember things that influencers do wrong in their earlier years and then they try to cover it up. Such as a go fund me which is constantly brought up. It’s completely fair and right they are faced with this

Influencers ask for opinions, but only positive ones. Any kind of negativity is instantly labelled as either trolling or jealousy, which it very often isn't. I personally don't post anything on SM but enjoy other's posts, but I can dislike something without being a troll or jealous....

It does make me wonder why the lawyers didn’t do a good job in the first place. Is it because they knew they never stood a chance if they gave Sebastian the opportunity to defend himself? By doing this it gave them a platform to discuss their side without much rebuttal and gave them 5 minutes of fame.

Tattle life is popular because gurugossip fell apart. If tattle goes, there will be a new website to take its place

I used to drop in to Tattle when someone interesting popped up on my feed and I wanted a two paragraph précis on who they were : i.e. “…used to be a YouTuber, appeared on AGT, married their childhood sweetheart …” but I found too many of the comments problematic.

Forums (and anonymity) have been around since the internet started. I dont see why that should be stopped, sometimes there is a fair reason for anonymity (on financial forums for example).

I first went on there out of curiosity when it all came out, it’s absolutely here. Some threads about some celebrities are shocking one thread even got banned about a certain celebrity

Id recommend you look into the issue of anonymity and there is a push to remove it. It’s not a net positive

There is so much procedure to litigation. It’s a shame really that we didn’t get this to court. I honestly think it’s reflective of the times we are in and important from a legal perspective
