I am at $2.2m now at 55, retire at 58. I ran the numbers today and will struggle to spend down my retirement.

I’m 54 and have $2.8M in investments and probably won’t even touch it. I fully retired at 52 and live off my $82k/yr pension.

Anything more than 2-4M in retirement is really just for future generations. You won’t spend 18m in 20 years

They have current investments of $1 million and they are in their early 30's. The $18 million assumes market returns (likely 8-10%) and that they would continue their aggressive savings contributions to investments. It's not adjusted for inflation.

Theyll end up being taxed a big chunk of that too if they keep investing this much, unless all of that is a roth 401k. Im assuming they are disqualified from roth ira

This makes no sense. 18 mil in 40 years means they would need to be investing 60k a year at an 8% return over 40 years. Anyone saving that much / making that much excess income can obviously do the math.

Yes, but that’s if they continue doing what they’re doing for the next 25 years? What if they lose a job or one of them becomes ill that whole plan goes away
