Devils advocate I think every baby should be celebrated and even if you throw a sprinkle to celebrate the baby but do diapers only or “no gifts needed” then I think it’s okay! I’m about to have my second daughter (18 month age gap) and I would be sad not celebrating her too. There’s also a spot in the baby book for her shower so I don’t want to leave it blank 😭

In our culture all babies get baby showers, all babies are celebrated equally! It’s not necessarily about presents, it’s about the celebration behind a new baby arriving! And it’s also very common in our culture that we give away our baby items once they group out of it.

I’m sorry, this might be an unpopular opinion, but no. My friend just had her third baby, and she had a baby shower plus two “sprinkles,” one for each additional child. I think that’s unnecessary and a bit over the top 😅😅.
If you keep having babies, you should have enough money to buy what you need instead of relying on other people. In my opinion, you should have one baby shower for your first child, and that’s it. That’s how it used to be, and I think it should stay that way, everything feels so extra now 😅.
I just had my second baby and didn’t have a sprinkle.

Girl I’ll throw you a baby sprinkle 😏 I think there should be one for each baby! The second and third could be just diapers and wipes and the essentials but mamas need to be celebrated at any chance because whew making these babies are tough 😅

I grew up with the same etiquette that you described, so my instinct is to agree. but I also see the fun of celebrating every baby to some extent. I don't think you should have the same size of party for baby #1 as you do #1, but I think a very small diaper party is always fun.

I was raised by the old fashioned mindset that you only have one for your first baby! however, for my second, I would really LOVE to have all the people I’m close with come over to hangout and “celebrate” while making freezer meals together for postpartum and clean the house!! (I would provide all the food for the meal prep and cleaning materials) but that way it would take all the load off of making the food myself!

i’m throwing myself a sprinkle for baby #2 BUT we’re not asking for any gifts, only asking for this new life created to be celebrated because every baby deserves to be cherished - not just the first.

My area is very much like yours, but if I were to have another baby I would ask someone to plan a shower. Obviously they would have to want to do it as well, but I just think every baby deserves to have a baby shower. 😅

I had a baby shower for my first & I don’t really plan on doing anything for my second! I feel like I have everything I need besides clothes if it’s the opposite gender, etc

I’d probably do a sprinkle if we had another, regardless of the gender! Etiquette I’m used to is for friends/fam to throw it but I almost threw one for myself 😂

No one was doing anything to plan my baby shower so I started to plan it and everyone gave me crap for that then wouldn’t do anything. The whole thing was so so stressful. I’ll never do it again unless someone does the entire thing for me lol.

I’m from Indiana- everyone here does it different but I was raised believing you get one baby shower to shower you with everything you need for motherhood. It’s less about celebrating the baby, more about celebrating the mom and her journey into motherhood. I stuck to that. I typically will only go to one baby shower per person also.

Regular shower for my first who’s a boy and a sprinkle for my second who’s a girl! My sis in law and I were two days apart so we sprinkled for each other 🥰

I did have a sprinkle for my second because one's a girl and one's a boy. But I also told myself every baby deserves to be celebrated. I'm from Southern California
