I was really surprised to find out that my 26 Ram 2500 work truck has R-134a. Chrysler has been using 1234yf since before 2013.

We do a ton of these because other shops won't touch them. Even if they're R134 they still won't touch it.

When I was younger, just starting out, I worked at a Chevy dealer in the heavy line position. We were standing around talking about how we kept seeing the SAME issues on many cars. The service manager told me something that I have always remembered…..we are ONLY seeing the failures!!! There were many, many more (more than what we saw) that never had ANY problems! You can’t necessarily condemn a make or model by the failures you are seeing because there are likely many more that you never see bc they didn’t have issues!

on my personal cars, after I replaced my last components, I spray the joints with the spray gasket/sealer. just to help with leaks

What do y’all think about the new ford bronco sports with the same 1.5L. I’m trying to prove a point to someone. We had an escape with a recall for possible engine fire and so many issues with only 30k miles on it. I keep telling them the same issues are bound to happen at the same mileage due to the same engine being put into the bronco sports

I was a shop owner for almost 40 years, sold my shop and retired. I loved when other shops recommended for work that they didn’t do or things they couldn’t figure out. You could bet your bottom dollar that we were going to do our best to impress that customer with our skills and customer service and convert them to our customer. If you’re a shop and you’re sending your customers elsewhere you have the strong potential of losing their business forever.
