@henryfudgeofficial: Three Green Party policies that are quietly sabotaging the Greens. Said with love. The 10:1 pay ratio that creates a glass ceiling and sends money to Singapore. The anti-nuclear position that is making us burn more gas. And why refusing to defend your own immigration policy hands every silent day to Nigel Farage. Luckily they all vote on policy, which is why I like them, so just throwing in my two cents on the non fiscal policies based on what I have seen in my comments whenever I mention positive things about the greens 🫡 Anyway there you go. #greenparty #politics #ukpolitics #economics #ukeconomy

I have a feeling that they’d more popular if they tried to lean to the centre rather than the left.

I consider parties like buses. None get you to your exact destination but you choose the bus that gets you as close to it as possible. Green is that for me. The anti nuclear energy and dismantling of Titan don’t sit well with me, but maybe things will be reconsidered come the general election.

I'm probably going to vote green but I agree with all of these points here. especially with nuclear energy, apparently there's a faction of the greens that are pro nuclear energy, they're called 'greens for nuclear energy' or something so I hope they gain traction within the party.

Honestly as a firm green supporter I completely agree, all very valid criticisms

I don't understand the Greens reluctance on nuclear energy as the policies like the 10:1 you can see why they think that way, even if it's not realistic, but with nuclear it's very clean which fits in with how they view solar and wind. Also, normally they point to research backing stuff like drug decriminalisation, prisoner rehabilitation etc but then say nuclear is dangerous when overall it's safe 🤔

i never even considered the issues with the 10:1 pay loopholes and i'm actuslly all for nuclear but with how the greens have been going about things im still quite happy and im hoping that there will be balanced conversations within the party to shape these policies

I'm voting Green but the 10 to 1 pay is ridiculous. it's just not feasible and there's so many loop holes it would be impossible to uphold. it made me nervous that Green Party thinks its a good policy.

in germany the green party was actually not the one responsible for pushing so aggressively against nuclear energy, instead it was the christian democrats, the party that’s in power now aswell…They were the ones who got us hooked on cheap russian gas and didn’t try to actually build our renewables… i agree that nuclear is better than gas but it’s only better because there is no geopolitical risk the price for nuclear power plants is way too high

As someone who is centre left in his political beliefs think you explain my thinking and positioning really well. Feel like there so close to being what I want but at the moment just missing the mark on some key points.

People need to realise that no party is perfect, you should instead pick the one that closest matches your opinions

I vote for the party who annoys me the least, and currently that's the Green party. I was a labour supported for over a decade but this government isn't what I signed up for at all

The 10:1 CEO pay ratio is really odd, it's not in the internal members policy book as far as I could tell. Zach just randomly announced it - could be wrong

Absolutely spot on. & the greens need to enact these changes whilst they still have the momentum. If they react to public opinion too late, it may be hard to keep the ship pointing in the right direction

I mean pretty valid points. I think especially for the South England and South Wales nuclear could be really good for on grid capacity.

You are right. I’m only just getting my head around the idea that this is a party that will listen to members so there is hope!

That’s why I like the party. I don’t agree with these ideas either, but as a member you get a say and can vote to change policies you disagree with. I agree it should be more of a centre-left party.

the great thing about the green party is it's completely democratic and of everyone in the party wants change it will happen

Just demonstrates how far a company would go to avoid paying the cleaner a comfortable wage. Seems to sum up corporate greed in general.

the 10:1 ratio makes no sense at all. It's better that you make what you like but pay higher taxes

as a massive green supporter I agree with these criticisms. I think greens are 90% the best party with their policies but could definitely improve some of the practicality of their stuff. we need people like you to help us solve these problems
