This is a false narrative. Leaders track tasks and hours. To run an efficient team you have to have the appropriate amount of people for the tasks. It is silly to pay more employee than needed to complete the work. While no one wants to over work anyone you don’t want to pay people for down time either.

Agree with all this. I tried my best to be the kind of leader that made for a positive environment and bam....my gang won Emmys and I love them all!

so what if you have a manager that’s somehow in between a boss and a leader

Honestly, confusing a boss and a leader is such a common thing at the workplace. There's even leadership courses or what not. A total waste of resources from what I've seen and tends to just make the issue worse as they now feel like a leader because they took a course.

I love my work lead (supervisor) he never comes and checks on me because he knows that I know what im doing and trusts me. I can go weeks without even seeing him except for when I go say high or something. I recently just got a $5 per hour pay raise due to him looking out for me and knowing how hard of a worker I am. I am so blessed to have him as my work lead ♥️

I guess I don’t have either 🥲. My manager is a name in the org chart and someone I have to talk to once a week, but otherwise it’s, as we say in Brazil, an extra zero in the decimals

"Bosses track hours" is so accurate. my last boss spent way too much time concerned that everyone in the office was stealing time. even when we exceeded expectations, smashed sales records, got 5 star reviews across the board. exhausting

I agree with 7 of 8 of these. The one I disagree on #6. I absolutely want a leader who solicits views from everyone in the meeting. But if a person calls a meeting and then doesn’t set an agenda or lead the conversation adequately and leaves it to us to interpret what they must want, I don’t think that is helpful. Am I taking “speaks first” and “speaks last” too literally for what you meant to convey?

number 5 is why I left a very good job. I ran a project building a cancer center building and moved all the hospital's assets into this building and the president of the hospital took the credit and for running the project when he was only on 1 meeting. I can't work for a company that is toxic.
