🆘 This is K and he's EUTH LISTED for 8AM MON 11/9‼️ He is available for rescue only and we hope someone will save our “Special K” friend because we absolutely adore this pocket pittie. K entered the city shelter system in May, brought in as a bite case (reportedly biting another dog and the dog’s owner when that owner tried separating the dogs mouths from each other). The other dog sustained injury requiring surgical repair and K went into bite quarantine for the human bite. We don’t have details about what exactly triggered the incident or information about the size of the other dog. K was initially held as “evidence” and, following protocol, was then placed on the euthanasia list with 30 days notice. His 30 days end on 11/9. This handsome boy has been a total love with his handlers at South LA and he has done well in playgroup with social dogs. K started off muzzled based upon the reported bite incident but quickly earned his way out of muzzle in his first playgroup outing. He has enjoyed bouts of play, displayed a gentle dainty play style, and has been steerable. Sadly on 10/28, a large male dog pinned K to the ground, biting K in the chest and leg. K attempted to defend himself by biting the other dog in the face but that dog had latched onto K. After handlers separated and removed the other dog, K remained in playgroup, receiving “CPR” time with 4 social dogs and displaying no issues with them. In his next playgroup outing, handlers noticed that K was bleeding from his groin area and reported him to medical. He’s now in kennel isolation with an upper respiratory infection and we are simply heartbroken for our friend. 💔 K needs a responsible rescue to be in his corner and he needs a rescue plan in place before 8AM 11/9.
