The EV1 was created by General Motors in the early 90s and was the first modern, mass-produced electric vehicle from a major automotive company. It looked to the future, but it never got there - due to a host of complications, they were recalled and most were destroyed in the early 2000s. The EV-1 was essentially a rolling battery pack. It wasn’t until around 2010 that the use of lithium ion batteries made it possible to get decent interior space on an EV.
