You should absolutely get it or a new job because I had GEICO insurance and they canceled me when they found out I was doing DoorDash at the same time as my Accident. In no way shape or form did DoorDash or my order interfere with my driving, but because I didn’t have it on my insurance they canceled me and that’s really bad in the eyes of insurance by the way.

Yes you do, I called my insurance company to ask if I needed the commercial coverage for business needs. My insurance only went up $50 to add on the extra coverage.

You don’t need commercial but you should get for hire. I have progressive and had full coverage w/500 deductible. I pay 132$ a month

Look at your current policy and see if it includes coverage if you're using your car for business use.

I’m just curious to know if you can write off the extra insurance expense on your taxes or not?

don't mention you doordash or they gonna make you get it, insurance companies know doordash is much more risky than just personal use so they'll get ya for sure after got t boned delivering food I made the mistake telling the insurance what I was doing and they quickly interrupted me and said they didn't know I used the car for doordash and I let them know I didn't know I had to inform them, welllll Uber requires you to have it on your coverage but not doordash not sure why

I did hear if you are in an accident, some insurance companies may request your phone records to see if you were talking on the phone or texting. It would document if you were on an active delivery in the app and possibly deny coverage for that accident.

It is true because you're policy states "personal use" not commercial and if you're using it for work, you need commercial... they will deny you if you need to make a claim... So least in Texas... Different states may be different

It is not something that DoorDash requires, so you will probably not find any information by contacting support. it has to do with your own insurance company, if they find out you were in an accident while delivering, it won't be covered. I think my insurance went up a few dollars a month. I also just recently was getting car insurance quotes and every one of them asked if I do any delivery services. please don't get discouraged by my comment, I just thought you might want to know. I have dashed as a second job for almost 5 years and I love it. 🥰

Talk to your insurance company and see if your covered. My insurance allows delivery but not ride share.

Yes. If you wreck while dashing you are not covered. You are technically running your own business. You have business expenses.
