Like 20yrs ago we camped somewhere in lake baringo and recently we saw the spot is far inside the lake

Tectonic plates underneath the rift valley are pushing the land up. That's why lake Nakuru, Naivasha, Baringo, and probably Turkana seem to have "more water" but it's mostly increased displacement
