@americathepossible: The Supreme Court case on birthright citizenship really comes down to a basic question: can a president undo 130 years of how the Constitution has been understood just by signing an order? #america

Mind boggling to me! Isn't every existing American citizen a citizen because of birthright?

To amend the Constitution to change or eliminate birthright citizenship, you need ratification from 38 states (three-quarters of the 50 states). This ratification requirement is one part of the formal amendment process outlined in Article V of the U.S. Constitution. Before the states can even vote to ratify, the proposed amendment must first pass Congress with a two-thirds supermajority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, or be proposed by a national convention called for by two-thirds (34) of the states.Birthright citizenship is currently guaranteed by the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed this protection, ruling that attempts to alter birthright citizenship unilaterally via executive orders are unconstitutional.Further ExplorationRead the full American Immigration Council breakdown on the origins of birthright citizenship.Review the Harvard Law School analysis on constitutional limits and executive orders regarding citizenship.

@America The Possible The Republican Party wants to overturn the 14th Amendment / birthright citizenship — to fulfill their deportation agenda and turn the U.S. into a white nationalist utopia once more. They have started with ICE and immigrants, using illegal immigrants as practice to perfect their operations. If the Republican Party was successful in overturning the 14th Amendment / birthright citizenship — they will void the citizenship of all immigrants AND African Americans and deport them to South America, Africa, etc. They are hiding their real agenda, it is much bigger than anyone is anticipating.
