Hi! I know this is a joke, but as a PCP - I would love to address all of your symptoms but when you bring them all up in 1 visit, it’s really hard to give each one the full attention and workup it deserves. It’s often expected that you can throw a bunch of unrelated symptoms at us and we’ll come up with a unifying diagnosis - sometimes there is one, but 90% of the time there isn’t. For example, if you bring up sinus issues, sleep issues, and chest pain - I’m probably going to be focused on the chest pain for the rest of that 15 minute visit, because I care about your health and safety, not because I don’t care about your other issues. 2-3 symptoms per visit MAX so we can address each one appropriately and thoroughly.

YALL- your PCP cannot easily order specialized weird testing for specific autoimmune/ MS and other complicated issues because that’s out of their realm. Ask for a SPECIALIST who knows what to order and what the results mean. If your PCP orders those “weird” tests, they’ll refer you to speciality anyways because they don’t know what it all means.

Pick 3 and chip them a way little by little- not a whole book at once. Reschedule periodically (no wait time for established patients is not several months).

Yes anxiety can cause a lot of physical symptoms but we need rule out other possibilities before we blame it on anxiety!! I don’t understand why this is so hard?!?! It’s our job as a doctor to think about all the possibilities…that is why they call it a differential diagnosis. I had an attending tell me once “when you stop thinking about all the possibilities is when you become dangerous” (shout out to my nephrology attending)
