Tbh, I have a hard time even considering HSV 1 an STI. I know it technically is and can be transmitted sexually, but most people I know who have it, have had it since they were children. I’ve gotten cold sores literally since I was in like 1st or 2nd grade, probably from a water fountain or a family member kissing me or something. Had no idea it was something contagious until I was like 19
