Did you know Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros in EPCOT is inspired by Saludos Amigos? Saludos Amigos was a short Disney film made during World War II as part of a U.S. goodwill effort toward Latin America. Walt Disney and his artists traveled through parts of South America to celebrate the cultures, music, and landscapes of the region, while also helping strengthen ties so countries would remain friendly with the United States instead of siding with the Axis powers. And yes, I know I’m a dork, but last fall I wrote a 120-page paper on how Disney was basically saved by World War II.
