my family is mixed so im only speaking for my white family and yes its talked about. but its more talked about in a way to express a remorse and guilt over our culture being literally just violence and rape and slavery. about once or twice a year there is a cultural project for someone's school and we have to talk again about how the only culture we have is truly awful and not to be proud of. a grandmother who is particularly good at tracing lineage but right leaning hides the bad people in the tree and as time goes on we slowly discover horrific things done by our own. its awkward so these discussions are typically done with only other family present in our own homes.
