maybe try mashed foods first with a fork like avocado and banana, then when she is used to it you can try sliced foods. Then move on to foods like toast and broccoli. steak is great but it’s not really for swallowing yet only sucking. But my son kept nibbling pieces

Do what feels best for YOU and your baby! You’ll know when she is ready to start eating more chunky food, and then it gets easier and easier! ❤️Purée’s were normal when we were babies and we all eat well as adults, if it makes you anxious just take your time there is NO rush xx

Try mashing the foods up a bit at first so it’s kinda like a puree but more thick and with some texture my girl is 6 months old and blw and I offer her a mashed thing, and 2 things she can hold and put in her mouth herself (like toast) every week offer her more and more texture/thickness till you think she’s ready enough to have something whole. I would recommend starting with something that you can steam to be really soft like a carrot or zucchini stick and if you can lightly squish it in between your fingers it’s perfect for her x

My daughter was the same. We started with purée and then once she was comfortable with that we could thicken the consistency of the purée and continued until it turned into baby led weaning

My son is 9months old we only started offering finger foods at 8months because he would vomit so much over any texture difference. We did mashed foods only up to 8 months and still cut his full meals (pasta/ casseroles up with herb scissors to the pieces aren’t big and he doesn’t break off anything too hard to swallow. Anything blw we serve we use the solid starts app to see how to safely serve it. Bananas split into fingers and brocolil and potato tots were the first blw style food we started with and worked up from there.

We did puree at 6 months to get use to eating. I feel like it’s a learnt skill that they need to do consistently. It will get easier!! Gradually after a month I think we then introduced BLW and haven’t had any issues, now 8.5 months

im scared too but the solid starts app is really good to use, you put in her age etc and it’ll give you age appropriate meals/snacks to start with and how to cook it etc x we have started with mash potatoes, steamed whole baby carrots and broccoli and some steak/lamb chops and TJ LOVES IT

I would try to give the purée first before the bottle , because baby will get full before having the purée which can also cause over feeding vomiting. Xox

Remember it’s baby led, you can give her whatever she can handle as long as it’s led by her!

With my daughter I did thin puree for a month or so then chunky mash consistency and then blw a month or so after. Perhaps go back to puree for a bit by itself to get used to then slowly make it chunkier.

I did baby led weaning with Tatum, she didn’t vomit but I was nervous start with super soft food like sweet potato and avocado! See how you go with those, if it still happens she might just not be ready I pushed Tatum back because I didn’t think she was ready. instead of purées I did mash potato consistency, and slowly left little chunks you could even just try thicker purées slowly till you feel like she’ll go better with blw!! 💗

Hi lovely, we started BLW at 8-9 months old but during purees we actually started doing weetbixs in the morning instead of purees, or toast cut into strips but he also hated purees but just go with your baby if she loves purees just keep going with it until she’s ready to move to BLW

Steam veg until it’s super soft and cut them long ways stick style, I would also just pick one or two veg and continue offering that for at least 3-4 days, And then add a new flavour/texture to her plate/bowl :)

Our babies are the same age , I would stick to purée for a bit longer before going on to solids. So baby can slowly get used to different textures.

I was so scared to do it but I mainly did soft veggies and fruits cut certain ways for my girl to pick up. She squished them and ate them like that which helps. You can also add some of the milk from the bottle you’re going to give her into the purées instead of water so make it soft and creamy. Also try to just give a few different foods to try to ensure she likes it before moving onto the next. Also wait until food is completely gone before offering water. I made this mistake which made my girl gag more. Purées is fine at this stage, I did more purées less BLW until she had more teeth 💕

My son is 11months and i was terrified to do BLW we started after a month of purees we did pre loaded spoons of mashed avo or something similar and then moved to strips of steak or toast. He used to projectile vomit Every-time because he would gag for so long he eventually got better and after a month it got way better. The solid starts app is amazing.

The vomiting can be normal after the gagging episode, that’s her gag reflex kicking in. I would be more worried if she didn’t vomit after a gagging episode- meaning she could be choking. If she’s able to bring it back up that’s great, it’s what you want. If she’s making lots of noise also great. Silent is not what you want.

Best advice is do a first aid course so you don’t have to worry if she does chock so you know what to do… have you tried doing mash & then food? With my 6 month old we do a little mash of something then I let him have blw foods at the moment it’s more for textures… also I don’t feed after a bottle I wait a little bit. Is she ready for food ? She could possibly not be ready just yet ❤️

My girls a week younger than yours and for her breakfast I give her 1 puree and some sort of solid lately she’s teething so I’m giving her some teething rustics & another solid for lunch dinner she will have another puree but I’ll make it chunkier. I would say to speak to a doctor about her vomiting as I agree that it doesn’t seem normal.
