I need a vacation after my trip. They are fabulous, but exhausting.

100%. Travelling (trips) and vacation is two separate things. Travelling is not for the weak but I love it.

As long as your travel companions are on the same page, both can be fun! We're splitting our vacation uplater this month: 4 days tripping in museums, restaurants, new cities, and then 3 days vacationing on beaches, boat excursions and little local shops. Go hard and then relax! 🥰

I plan trips and try to squeeze in a vacation day (beach day).

absolutely! and when you have young kids and bring them, it will ALWAYS be a trip. maybe an adventure. but never a vacation. ❤️

I get the difference of having a packed agenda on a trip versus a fully relaxing “vacation”, but I consider any time I am away and not at work a vacation.

Oh cool! I always say if I’m going to be “On the Go” while on a visit somewhere, I’m going on Vacation. However, if I’m going to be “relaxing and no schedule to keep” kind of visit, I call that going on Holiday.

Vacations for me are more local. You use the car. Stay at a cottage. Family visits. That kind of thing. A trip is when I fly somewhere to see something new.

We do tropical vacation once a year but like Fiji or the Cook Islands but we still don’t really sit on the beach. Then we do hiking trips like this year was Faroe. My favorite though still is trips to Europe.

I absolutely agree there is a difference! I am planning for Italy with bad plantar fasciitis and I loved your video about shoes to wear!

I disagree. Vacation is when I’m not working, it doesn’t matter if it’s a beach or a city.

I often hear the distinction between vacation and trip when traveling with kids, so Europe with kids is doubly a trip.

We call our trips to Europe 'touring.' Our 'vacations' are less structured and include sleeping in. I absolutely recognize the differences you're talking about.

I agree! I too need a vacation after my trip. This last trip was great because I came back on Saturday and worked on Tuesday!

I call them adventures or vacations. Vacations tend to be 4 days for me.
