@ing_aust: Six easy ways to waste less food (and potentially save more money): Plan before you shop Take two minutes to check the fridge and pantry, then write a list and stick to it. Buying with a plan means fewer impulse buys and less food forgotten at the back of the fridge. Learn the art of freezing Your freezer is your secret weapon. Freeze leftovers, bread, chopped veggies and fruit before they turn. Most foods freeze better than you think and future you will thank you. Start small with kids Serve smaller portions first and offer seconds if they want more. Kids often need to try foods multiple times before they warm to them, and smaller serves mean less food left untouched. Revive tired veggies Wilted greens are not a lost cause. A quick ice water soak for 5 to 10 minutes can bring them back to life. If not, roast them, sauté them or add them to soups and sauces. Make leftovers intentional Plan at least one leftovers night each week. Turning last night’s dinner into today’s lunch or a new meal is one of the easiest ways to cut waste without cutting back. Create a “use it up” zone Keep a shelf or container in the fridge for food that needs eating soon. If it’s front and centre, it’s far more likely to get used before it gets binned.
