I also think a contributing factor to these is that t lack of exposure is a big issue. It’s hard for people to prepare or qualify for opportunities they were never exposed or even knew to exist in the first place. A lot of people only learn about different industries and career paths through social media or the internet because nobody around them talked about those things growing up. Exposure really shapes what people believe is possible for themselves.

I'm a fashion designer and I've been searching for designers to work with but I can't afford to pay what they are asking for as a start-up. What did I do? I opened a one year and six months internship programme, where I train intending fashion designers from beginner to advanced level and in turn, they help out the period they are in training. What does this do? It trains new designers as well as give them an on the job experience they can put on their cv if the want to work with other fashion houses after their internship instead of opening theirs. I strongly believe that if establishments can provide internship opportunities, it will help resolve some of their staffing issues and help the interns upskill and gain experience.
