I think you both need to agree on what’s affordable and put that into a kitty. It shouldn’t be based on salary. If my friend says they’ve got £450 for three nights away and my budget is £850, I’m not paying the difference. we’re finding a £450 deal and going with that.

£16k is under minimum wage. £35k doesn't make you rich it's not enough to be giving your mates money for a holiday. it's better to just go somewhere you can all afford.

Disagree. You could earn more but have less free cash if you have your own house and your friend lives at home or lives with a partner. I do think the holiday should be planned based on the person with the lowest budget though, then if someone earns more money and wants to pay to upgrade something for everyone then they can.

No, you should only go somewhere that is affordable for all. So work out what the person on the lowest wage can afford and set that as the budget. Why should the highest earner subside the others??

this is the problem now with everyone wanting a hen do that’s a weekend away, sometimes abroad, themed outfits each night etc. i’m a low earner out of my friends and it’s sooo much pressure i just can’t afford it

Been there just done it I actually cudnt afford the expensive hotel due to my sons bday an daughters 21st so told the group chat asked if we could go for a lower price they said no so I just said well I can’t go then an I’m not going now didn’t expect them to pay for me but maybe compromise on the hotel

All but one of my girls earn significantly more than I do. I have to save for everything fun, so I work out the maximum I can afford and let them know. If the girls fancy something a bit more expensive, they would always offer to cover the difference over me not being able to go, but we generally manage to stick pretty close to the lower budget.

I don’t mind subsidising a little if it’s me that wants to stay in a nicer hotel or do an expensive activity. However if it’s a trip and budget we’ve all agreed to I’m not subsidising anyone.
