My theory for the ending of Berserk is that the astral and physical worlds will completely merge. Because of that the old members of the Band of the Hawk will return as spirits or astral beings. But this time they will fight alongside Guts instead of Griffith because Guts never betrayed them and already got accepted from the hawks as their new leader. I also believe that alongside the Idea of Evil there is an “Idea of Good.” While Griffith gave himself to fate and darkness Guts represents hope, humanity, and free will. So the final battle would not just be Guts vs Griffith but humanity vs fate itself.
