i actually cant remember anymore if i have ever talked about Parasaurolophus but i think I'll also use this as a boost!! Parasaurolophus. This Ornithopod dinosaur belonged to a group of family called Hadrosauridae. It lived during the Cretaceous period 83-71 million years ago. its habitats were in dense forests and were about 9.5m in length. this ornithopod is a part time quadruped herbivorous dinosaur whose diet are typically just leaves. in the 1930s, at least one scientist believed this dinosaur likely hunted food underwater and used its long crest as a snorkle. this dinosaur has a broad sharp edged beak that was perfect for gathering plants. it had a high back that was a tall extensions of the spine bones made its back much higher than usual. they mostly walked on all fours that allowed it to hunt for food. it had strong muscles attached to their big strongly built hip bones. and their heavy tail was used for balance to stand on their hind legs. fossilised impressions of Parasaurolophus skin show small, rounded scales. Parasaurolophus Walkeri had a very long crest and skull measuring up to 2m in length. It was covered with skin and may have had a web of skin between the crest and neck. its crest was likely used to communicate with other Parasaurolophus or make calls by inhaling air into the crest and exhaling it out, kind of like a trumpet, and so its called "bony trumpet". The crest of each species was different, so their calls would have varied too. Towards the end of Mesozoic, a branch of ornithopod line related to Iguanodon evolved into a group of broad-beaked herbivores called hadrosaurs. Also known as duckbills, they had highly specialized grinding teeth for mashing fibrous plants and making it easier to digest. some also had flamboyant crests extending from the tops of their skull. Parasaurolophus had one of the longest, and almost certainly used it for display or calling to other dinosaurs of its kind.
