@kateryna.lebedynska: Color Grade with Me - Part 15 ✨ Have you ever noticed how the same color can completely change an image depending on how you use it? 👀 In this reel, I’m showing two ways to push one raw image with color grading: one more editorial, and one more commercial. First, the raw image! The hat is already the main accent. Even though the original colors are flat, muted, and low in saturation, your eye still goes there first because the texture and color stand out right away. Option 1 Here I wanted more of an editorial feeling 😏 The goal is not really to make the hat the hero. I wanted the whole image to feel more unified, mood-based, and focused more on the model! So I brought pink into the background too, then pushed the palette further into those pink tones with color grading. This is where that 60-30-10 color rule comes in! Not in a perfect textbook way haha, but close enough to show the idea: 60% dominant color, 30% supporting color, and 10% accent. In the raw image, pink worked more like an accent. But in Option 1, pink becomes the dominant color and takes up way more space. Skin tones support it, and the darker details like the eyes, hair, lashes, and shadows become the smaller accent points. That’s why this version feels more editorial to me. It’s less “look at the hat” and more “feel the whole mood.” Option 2 Here, it’s basically the opposite! This time, I wanted a more commercial image, something that could work for a banner, catalog, or accessory ad 💵 So the hat really does need to be the star! I kept the hat as the main accent color and made the background lighter, cleaner, and quieter. I could have made it pure white.. but that felt a bit too plain, so I sampled a soft tone from the whites of her eyes to keep it more harmonious 👌 Now the hat has more separation, the product reads faster, and the whole image feels cleaner and more direct! So yeah… same raw image, same pink hat, but two completely different jobs for color ✨ Option 1 = pink becomes the mood Option 2 = pink stays the accent Which one would you choose? #colorgrading #retouching #photoshopediting #editorialretouch #retoucher

I always wonder about the logic of using a similar color for the background as the object you’re featuring. You use a very light blue for the one version but did you consider or try a darker blue to contrast the pink hat ? Wouldn’t that make the hat pop even more ? Just curious what your thoughts are about that.
