After getting your K-1 visa, one of the next things you’ll probably be wondering about is CFO. This is based on my personal experience, so your appointment may not be exactly the same. 📋 WHAT IS CFO? CFO stands for Commission on Filipinos Overseas. The Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) is for Filipino fiancé(e)s, spouses, and partners of foreign nationals. The program is designed to prepare Filipinos for life overseas, including cultural adjustment, relationships, rights and responsibilities, and other concerns related to living abroad. 📍 WHERE DID I GO? I attended my appointment at: CFO Main Office 9th Floor NexGen Tower C4 Road, EDSA Extension Pasay City My appointment was on July 14, 2026. 💰 HOW MUCH DID I PAY? The CFO appointment itself was FREE OF CHARGE. I only paid ₱30 for the Documentary Stamp Tax (DST), as stated on my appointment confirmation. 📁 WHAT DID I BRING? I prepared everything in one binder because I wanted to be as organized as possible. For my appointment, I brought: ✅ Printed barcoded GCP appointment confirmation ✅ Original passport + 2 valid IDs ✅ Original K-1 visa ✅ Copy of my fiancé's passport ✅ PSA CENOMAR ✅ Proof of our relationship — photos and other supporting documents ✅ Certificate showing my foreign fiancé had no criminal record ✅ ₱30 for Documentary Stamp Tax ✅ Black or blue pen My CFO appointment confirmation also listed proof of relationship and a valid no-criminal-record certificate/clearance or equivalent document for the foreign partner/spouse among the additional documents that may be required by the counselor/facilitator. When you're going through a visa journey, I'd rather be overprepared than underprepared. You never know what the facilitator may want to see, and the CFO itself says additional documents may be required depending on the case. 📚 WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE SEMINAR? At the beginning of the seminar, each one of us had to stand up and introduce ourselves. We were asked questions like: ❓ When and where did you meet your fiancé? ❓ How old are you? ❓ How old is your fiancé? ❓ What state does your fiancé live in? ❓ What are your plans when you get to the U.S.? ❓ What are your expectations when you start your new life there? So don't worry about memorizing a script. Just know your own story and your plans. 😊 After everyone's introduction, the facilitator talked about things like living abroad, cultural differences, adjustment, relationships, and the rights and responsibilities of Filipinos overseas. Our facilitator was very kind and approachable, and honestly, I enjoyed the seminar. ❤️ 🎤 INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEW After the group session, we had an individual interview. These were some of the questions I personally received: ❓ What is your fiancé's name? ❓ When and where did he propose? ❓ How is your relationship going? ❓ How does he treat your children from your previous relationship? ❓ Has he met your family? ❓ What are your plans when you get to the U.S.? ❓ What do you think will be your biggest challenge? ❓ If you become homesick, what will you do? Again, these were the questions I was asked, so don't assume everyone will get the exact same questions. ❤️ Schedule your CFO appointment as soon as you can after receiving your visa. 📁 Keep your documents organized. One binder made everything easier for me. 📸 Bring proof of your relationship. Even though mine wasn't requested, I was glad I had it. 📄 Bring the additional supporting documents listed for your situation, including documents concerning your foreign fiancé if applicable. 🕐 Arrive early. My appointment confirmation specifically instructed applicants to arrive one hour before the appointment. 🖊️ Bring your own black or blue pen. 😌 Don't be too nervous about the interview. Just be honest, relaxed, and know your own story. And remember, this is our personal experience, not a guarantee that everyone will have the same process or questions.
