The Dark Tower series is the thread that links his other works together. without it there is no Stephen King Multiverse. by the 3rd book he started to realize that's what this series was and it compelled him to keep going and that why he overdid it with book6 😂

The good thing about Stephen King’s multiverse connections is that when he he refers to something from another book or incudes a character from another book he usually gives all the information you need so you basically understand what’s going on. Even though most of his books are connected they are usually self contained stories.

The Discworld novels are a large collection of interconnected standalone stories. There’s a beautiful graphic regarding reading orders. For me, “whatever’s available in the library” worked just fine as a guide on what to pick next

I think if the order is a hindrance to you reading it then screw the reading order 🤣 just try it out see if you like it. If you love it then go back to the correct order! I didn't love mistborn but wanted to get into the cosmere so I just jumped right into stormlight and I LOVED IT. Would of never gotten into it if I had to read mistborn first

None of the Easter eggs in his other books really Impact the Tower journey. I think he did it to keep people engaged while he was finishing writing the series

I read them straight through. Then I realized how connected these books were to pretty much everything else. Didn't ruin anything for me. I enjoy things my way. I've done the same with Brandon Sanderson books. Read the little strand alone after the series I've read.

Stephen King was the first author that really did the whole multiverse situation for me. But even his were pop-ups and if you knew it it was a funny little joke between you him and the rest of the people who read his stories. Now the Cosmere itself I believe should be in “order” and I say that more in regards to stormlight where all these books converge. The character cross overs there are in depth and move the plot line in the background. So you should read them before getting too deep in Stormlight. For reference I am currently in Stormlight Book 5 and have read his other series/novellas prior.

It depends on how interconnected the books are. The cosmere definitely benefits a lot from reading some books/series before others. I haven’t read the dark tower, but my understanding is that it isn’t essential to read the other relevant king books, it just adds to the experience.

I find that a lot of time the Easter eggs are cute but also pretty small!!! I usually just end up reading the authors best work first or whatever interest me first!!!! It’s not that way for every multiverse. I know sometimes they can have major spoilers. In that case I will read in the recommended order!

If I have to read another series in order to enjoy a different series, I feel the author has failed and will not read it. UNLESS, it is a continuation of a story. Otherwise, I just read book 1 to the end

I read the books in publication order. I have also read almost all of Stephen King‘s other books. For me, finding elements of the the larger universe in other books was like a lovely Easter egg treat.

I enjoyed several king books. IT was my first and I really liked it. After the shining and doctor sleep I decided to jump into dark tower but I got half way in and it's just not clicking like his other books. I hope to finish it and get into the other books in the series but I may wait a bit to pick it back up. the stand and most of the other stand alones are so much better from what I've read.
