Thank you for this post I needed and made me realize I’m not alone I’ve fought so hard to give my oldest everything I never had and opportunities I never had and I feel l failed by the choices she’s making it’s been the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced watching her destroy her future

Raising good humans is hard and the post is right; sometimes, no matter what you do or how hard you try, they choose something else. Nothing prepares a parent for that war.

This is so true. It is also the most painful thing I have experienced yet as a parent. Watching my kid destroy his future with his poor decisions. I would not wish going through this on anyone.

Yes!!! Mine is 23 and has walked away thinking we are the ones against her. Everyone keeps saying she will come back, but you can’t get that time back and those burnt bridges are never the same, no matter how hard you try to mend them. That pain never goes away.

Definitely what I’m going thru at home with my 18 yr old son, it hurts makes me feel like I’ve failed somewhere as a parent. He lost his dad to cancer 2 1/2 years ago and it just seems like he’s been in a slump since then. I’ve had him in therapy, prayed, talked, cried, tried to show him the way and it’s like nothing! But I will remain hopeful because I know God can do anything but fail ❤️

I think I've found my people, because I definitely thought I was in this era alone 😭😫 This is, by far, the hardest time in parenting I've ever experienced. The poor choices are killing me, one after the other. Literally praying all the time that he turns it around 😥

I went through this exact thing with my son. He’s about to be 23 now and has been turning his life around. Sometimes they just need to learn how life is on their own and make mistakes so they can learn. Just keep praying. Be there for them and hug them as much as you can.

I've read before that the hardest stage of parenting is when they're young adults because they're now free to make their own decisions. Us Xennials now have kids at the graduating /adult level. I think we have all patented our kids based in what we didnt have in the 80s & 90s from our parents. Praying for all you mommas who's kids are making tough decisions. KEEP PRAYING. Sometimes God allows life lessons to shape our (their) souls. Keep having Faith!!!

So spot on😫😫. You can’t want more for them if they don’t want it. It’s different, but learning to let go and pray for their happiness and safety has helped me.

sad but true all we can do as parents is try to guide them and pray that they make good decisions and do what we can to love and support them along the way 🙏 🙏

That’s before you figure out that in order for them to want the best thing for themselves they have to love themselves, and THAT is something they need to learn from you. So if they’re struggling, love them more, believe in them, and never abandon them.

I needed this. I’m walking through this right now. I’m having to learn how to let her learn the hard way and it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

Is also realizing that your “right path” isn’t always their destination!

Going through this too. Resist and Release. Resist blaming yourself and release them to your Maker. It's not easy but so worth it.

Literally going through this at this very moment. I want to keep her safe but let her experience life but it’s so frustrating. Hubby and I do not agree on rules when it comes to her. She’s 17 and just graduated. She has freedom. I hate fighting my husband about it so tonight I’m done trying with her. She’s gonna learn through her own life experiences
