One of my favourite things to think about is that we actually only see a 2D image, assumed to be 3D because of shading and depth perception. Think about how cameras take the image we see, and the result is a 2D print of that image, exactly how we saw it. We just move around to continuously see new 2D images of the same thing at different angles.
