Honestly, I hadn't noticed it for either actor, my critique with Liam Hemworth was mostly that his acting wasn't good enough to explore Gale's depthness that coupled with the lackluster writing around his character in the films has led to many misinterpretations of the character, for me giving a flat performance is more noticeable than an inconsistent accent.

Tbf if Jennifer Lawrence didn’t have to put on an Appalachian accent why did they make Rachel Zegler? I get it’s book accurate for District 12 to be from Appalachia but literally no one in the first three movies from District 12 has a southern accent

english isn’t my first language so catching accent slip ups aren’t really my forte so i never really caught it with gale and lucy, but rachel’s accent in west side story was horrible, whenever she spoke spanish she had an accent and her puerto rican accent while speaking english sounded off

I'm not even a native English speaker but I really struggle with NOT picking up the imperfections within any English speaking accent when I know the actor is putting on an accent that's not theirs. like, Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones bothers me immensely, or even Charlie Cod as Matt Murdock in Daredevil. It kind of ruins the viewing experience for me at times but I can't turn it off either 🙃

ok you didn't actually explain what the effect is though, you just pointed out 2 non American actors in the hunger games franchise that struggle with American accents, but that's isn't an effect that's just being bad at accents. what is the Liam Hemsworth effect? what effect does this have on the audience?

I actually enjoyed her accent becahse she was Covey and they weren't from 12, so her accent being starkly different from everyone else was perfect

ive been forcing a canadian/american accent for 10 years now. i have noticed i sound different to everyone else here, my eyes are also a really light blue so it doesnt help that i look a bit different too.

Nahhhh he does not sound Australian 😂😂😂 that’s so funny. Y’all clearly haven’t heard an actual Australian speak. American accents are difficult for the rest of the world to understand - some actors are better at being easy to understand with a U.S. accent than others.
