If you picked up one bedbug from the hotel, that’s an infestation. You need to wash all your clothes and dry them at highest heat.

you probably do. They look like tiny brown mites and they smell bad when they’re squished. Check they seems of your bed under your bed sheets and the seems of your clothes and suitcases. Also if you find one know that they are in fact everywhere including in the clothes you’re wearing, they’ll even get in your hair

You usually can’t actually see bed bugs unless the infestation has been going on for a while and they’ve had time to multiply. But if you’re noticing a bunch of bites — especially small itchy bites in clusters or lines of 3 — that’s definitely one of the biggest signs of bed bugs.

If it’s clusters or lines of bites near your lower legs, feet, and ankles it’s more likely fleas that jumped up and bit from the floor. Bedbugs is more lines of bites anywhere that was exposed to the sheets (not covered with pajamas) when you were sleeping. Can you see the dot in the middle where they bit? That’s more likely fleas than bedbugs. If you think it’s bed bugs. Wash and dry everything you can in hot water. Get an empty spray bottle, fill it with rubbing alcohol and spritz any luggage, or items that can’t be washed.

You would know if you were actively looking for them. But if you weren’t you wouldn’t know. They sense warmth in your mattress when you lay down. Check your suitcase and your mattress seams. They are small so it’s easy to not know you have them.

Usually bedbugs bite in threes? Are your bites like that? Put bed bug catchers under your bed and monitor. Also, check your mattress in a bit to see if they’ve spread. Get a mattress protector. It will take some time to know if a bedbug came home with you
