The song’s title is a nod to DA L.E.S’s “North God” nickname, while the mixtape title “F2D”, which stands for “Fresh 2 Def”, also pays homage to his famed album series. Their voices are taken from a 2013 interview where Lerato Kganyago hosted DA L.E.S on The Link, a lifestyle TV show that debuted in November 2012 and aired on SABC 1 every Thursday at 18:30. Speaking to Slikour On Life on their “Too Much Info” question series, K1llbrady revealed that “North God” was intended as a tribute to someone he looked up to and a way of sharing his inspirations. However, it led fans to call him the “North God”, a title he said some “OGs” in the game found disrespectful.
