@carolinehydetv: #Tech #job cuts are spiking - unlike other industries. #ai is the main reason for the job cuts in March according to Challenger data, as it was in February. But there’s nuance - only 13% of all job cuts give AI as the reason in 2026, the “Market and Economic Conditions” . So - is tech ahead of the curve? Is it just AI washing? Lmk ✌️❤️

I agree. The crunch is all the money spent on AI infrastructure has to be paid for.

How are electricians and HVAC professionals categorized within the context of data center construction? Are they considered tech workers or classified otherwise?

Many businesses are seeing their margins squeezed due to various factors in the current economy. Huge cost savings are needed to be made. But those cost savings are allowing organisations to invest in other areas, where businesses are pivoting in an extremely volatile and uncertain market.

I think it’s the over hiring and over paid. So there will be some cut. How are tech jobs compared to medical fields? Money, responsibility and role. The tech pay gap definitely are more starting out vs a medical field job. So the cuts seems to come down faster and bigger on tech jobs.

Tech was always going to feel this first. But look at the ECB data, companies actually using AI are adding people, not cutting them. The layoffs aren’t taking AI jobs. They’re the old model finally running out of road.

Most are looking making their own electricity/energy, I think that probably means more jobs and different skills looking forward. I think it might be a case of cutting your cloth.

interesting in China, being cutting edge, firms cant lay off workers on AI grounds. a court ruled companies cannot terminate employees just to replace them with AI systems. we're also seeing companies in usa etc spending too much on ai tokens and getting employees back due to the cost.

Simple fact is that many of these tech companies can be operated successfully on a fraction of the labour as Musk demonstrated with X. AI is just providing a catalyst for these companies to downsize a little

not sure what companies are saying publicly but anecdotally, loads of my friends are loosing jobs due to AI (tech workers in 40s, 50s, middle management, highly educated). It is due to AI. Roles are being automated using AI in law, research in various fields, technical writers etc etc). Some are automating their own jobs before being made redundant
