this is so true. I’m American but my husband is Sudanese and anytime I ask him what a word is in Arabic he would tell me the standard word but also how they say it in Sudanese dialect snd I’m just like well that’s an entirely different word lol And it’s with simple words. The one that comes to my mind now is coffee, I remember in Sudanese dialect it’s Jabana but he was telling me that in the other dialect it’s something else. It got to the point that I was just like, let’s just stick to the Sudani dialect from now on bc it was too confusing for me to handle learning multiple ways of saying things as a beginner😅 ♥️

Thank you for this video! This was something I learnt when travelling. I speak regularly to both Palestinians and Moroccans, the dialects in the Levant and North Africa are VERY different!!

Arabic dialects aren’t even really dialects for something to be a dialect mutual intelligibility has to be a thing and some Arabic dialects just don’t have that , yea they could be micro languages but dialect rlly doesn’t put into perspective HOW different they are
