I feel the burn out but more because I am thinking and making decisions constantly. This is due to having 3-4 parallels projects I am orchestrating at the same time. Could even be up to 5 or more.

I actually felt this way in my first month as a product mgr in 2019. Tech teams going “hey do you approve?” And I was like “what? I have no clue.” What helps to create the collab feeling is asking a lot of questions. “What are the tradeoffs here? What happens if we don’t do this? How does this impact a customer? Does this actually roll up to the problem we are fixing?” And then both engineers and AI tools will start breaking it down. With AI though, make sure to tell it to go one by one or you will get 500 words back and it won’t feel like co-creating.

What I do is see myself as serving or empowering the people I oversee. I try to give them as much autonomy as possible, and then have conversations around any sticking points. I tried to give them as much as possible so that they don’t need me for as long as possible.

This is so relatable! I am a senior marketer in tech and a creative collaborator. I love being a people manager and mentor, too. I use AI every day and it feels like my main colleague these days. I think the burnout also comes from the endless iterations of AI chats, this feeling that you’re never done.

There’s also a dopamine letdown thing that happens when you create the clearest prompt ever, and expect it to deliver, and it doesn’t. Over and over. Lol. Or you do create something great, and try to iterate slightly, and something else breaks.

I’m now feeling wasteful if I don’t see multiple projects crunching at the same time. I thought the point was that I would do hours of work in minutes and all it has done is raise my expectations of what I can accomplish. Still working tirelessly.

Yes - the more I boss AI, the more it feels like I’m a “bossy person” which is a feeling I don’t like. No matter how collaborative, I’m still the one making requests/commands. This is something I need to explore further - thank you SO much for sharing your journey. I’m here for every step of it.

I like to call the way I work with AI the Ripple state it's kind of like a flow state but the Flow State implies that I am reaching an expert level and I am not there with AI or programming or even math for that matter so I call it more of a ripple State because I'm able to drop an idea in a pool of knowledge and it bounces around from the center out escalating itself as an idea and the LM is able to share my idea back to me in more intellectual way unlocking knowledge in language I've found it empowering to have someone helping me organize my thoughts and ideas it's much easier to go back to them later when I have time to examine them

I am in the same boat. The promise of more, better, faster hopefully giving us more time unfortunately means all my attention is sucked away.

I know exactly the dynamic you’re talking about. Things changed for me dramatically once I applied my love for metacognition and biomimetic design then I found cowork and applied flow to everythingnd

all of the above. I also feel im also constantly doubting myself and the system I built so a lot of energy goes towards chasing small improvements that aren't really that smalll

Amen. Works great until it doesn’t. I remain convinced all the models regularly throttle content and conserve resources

Can I talk with you about using your core values in the prompts? It reduces burnout greatly.

Wow, Emily. Feeling this intensely. I dont know if it is frustration, the feeling of going in circles, that an LLM realy is NOT the creative biz partner that you had hoped and need.
